| Since the foam of Osiris washed against
civilization |
| I have waited |
| watching an endless sea of froth lap across
the delta of life |
| endless tides carrying you to
me |
| desert sand spilling atop fertile
earth |
| calloused feet pressed upon fine
grain. |
| I walked towards you. |
| Ra's anger whipped dark scars across my
back |
| for I was more powerful than
he. |
| From Isis to Cronus I have marked
time |
| Artemis and Apollo dancing above my head for
countless eons |
| till my presence shaded sunlight and white-washed
darkness |
| The bright anger of Zeus snapping at my
heels |
| to rid himself of the presence that harbored
his mortality. |
| I rode west on the wings of a growing
empire |
| nestled in the safe comfort of
change. |
| And still you had not yet been
born. |
| Saturn's house gave way, little
one |
| Satan and Yahweh rising to ascendance like
bursting flames |
| and they fight still |
| warring in the dying embers quieted by
Reason |
| as I warm myself by the fire |
| and wait for you to join me. |
| Can you feel my presence,
child? |
| Hovering on the fringes of your dim
calculations |
| as I wait for Logic to fail you-- and it
undoubtably will-- |
| to join its brethren in discarded
literature |
| a paper palace of fallen gods. |
